Kamikawa Town

This town at the foot of the Daisetsuzan mountains is full of flowers and greenery.
It is one of the most popular tourist spots in northern Hokkaido.

Kamikawa Town has many tourist spots such as the Sounkyo Hot Spring, known for its sheer cliff with columnar joints, and the Ginga and Ryusei Falls, which rank among Japan’s 100 Best Waterfalls.
Mt. Kurodake, one of the most famous mountains in Daisetsuzan National Park along with Mt. Asahidake, also attracts many tourists, especially for the early morning tours to watch seas of clouds.
At the Sounkyo Visitor Center, which focuses on the topic of interaction between people and nature, you can get information on recommended spots and nature in Daisetsuzan National Park. The Daisetsu Mori-no Garden, the northernmost garden of the Hokkaido Garden Path, is a beautiful garden that offers a harmonious view of seasonal flowers and the nearby Daisetsuzan mountains. The Sounkyo Hyoubaku Festival, held from late January to mid March every year, is one of the most popular winter events in Hokkaido and attracts many tourists.
